Professional (Malpractice) Liability Insurance
As a member of a regulated profession, a complaint may be made about you by a member of the public or another professional to the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario. Regardless of the validity of the complaint, legal expenses related to the investigation process and, if necessary, the disciplinary process, are likely incurred. Most professional liability (also known as malpractice plans) will not cover these expenses without additional premiums; however, this is included in OSOT comprehensive plan.
OSOT's comprehensive coverage protects members for both errors (malpractice) and omissions. The OSOT program exceeds COTO's requirement and packages broad coverage at an exceptionally low cost.
Self-employed OSOT members can also add the name of your personal corporation for $43.20. (including taxes).

Comprehensive (or Commercial) General Liability Insurance - $2 or $5 million options
This form of protection complements your professional liability insurance by insuring claims which are not professional in nature including bodily injury, property damage, libel and slander to a limit of $2 million or $5 million if your employment situation requires it. OSOTs 2009-2010 plan offers self-employed OTs extensive and competitive coverage extensions all for only $140.40 or $224.68. (including taxes)

$75,000 Fidelity Bond
As an option to OSOT members, this program allows you to purchase $75,000 of fidelity coverage as may be required by certain clients. This "crime bond" protects them if you are culpable for their loss. The OSOT annual cost is $30.
